What To Know About Holiday Recycling Bags, Christmas Tree Disposal | Branford, CT Patch

BRANFORD, CT — Recycling bags for holiday wrapping, similar to a leaf bag with a green holiday sticker placed on it, are being distributed to Branford kindergarten through eighth grade schools, area libraries and town departments, according to Sharon Heslin.

The recycling bags are for wrapping paper, tissue paper, gift boxes and cards without glitter and envelopes. No bows, ribbon or plastic wrapping materials. Outdoor Bicycle Covers

The bags should be placed on the curb alongside household trash and recycling, or may be brought to the Transfer Station —a resident sticker is required — from 7:15 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Monday through Friday and on Saturday from 7:15 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

The Transfer Station facility is closed Dec. 26 and Dec. 31.

All about Christmas tree disposal

Christmas trees are not picked up curbside with household garbage and recycling. Residents may dispose of trees —free of all lights and decorations—at the Transfer Station facility or, have it picked up on Sat. Jan. 7 or Saturday, Jan. 14 by Boy Scout Troop 633.

All trees must be placed at the end of the driveway or in an "obvious, convenient spot unless prearranged by 8 a.m. on day of pickup. Trees will be brought to the Branford Transfer Station for proper disposal. All proceeds will be used to support Troop Activities and Tabor Ministries
