Food pantry gets added shelving thanks to Middleboro Elks | Sippican

MIDDLEBORO — Middleboro Elks Lodge #1274 presented a $2000 Gratitude Grant to the St. Vincent DePaul and Sacred Heart Food Bank, which is open to serve residents in need from Middleboro, Lakeville, Rochester, and Carver.

This “consumer choice” style food pantry is set up like a grocery store, and customers get to  walk around and pick out the foods that they really want and need for their families. Especially since the inflation associated with COVID-19, there has been a significant increase in the amounts of people who identify has food challenged and/or financially needy, who use this and other food pantries, pantry officials report. Shuttle Cart These grant funds will be used by the food pantry to purchase shelving for a large walk-in refrigerator. This shelving will drastically increase the number of foods that can be stored and distributed from this refrigerator.
