GARDEN CITY, NY — The Village of Garden City recently completed a project to repair and replace the roof of St. Paul's.

The St. Paul's Roofing Project was undertaken to stop all the leaks and prevent further damage to the building. The project cost $471,040, according to the village. Officials expect FEMA to reimburse 75 percent of the costs. Trapezoidal Sheet Metal

According to the village, two separate roof systems were installed over the original roofs. A Polyglass One-Ply SBS (Elastomeric) Roof system was installed at roofs 4, 5, 8, 9, 10 and 11. Prep work included the removal and replacement of deteriorated wood roof substrate, as needed. The 1⁄4-inch-thick asphalt recovery board (Polyboard E) was then installed. Crews reinstalled existing metal flashing and/or installed new .04 bronze aluminum roof edge flashing with galvanized cleat, and installed single ply, self-adhered SBS roof membrane as per manufacturer’s recommendations.

A Firestone Low Slope Fire Retardant RubberGard EPDM Roof system was installed at roof 6. Prep work included the installation of 1⁄2-inch CDX plywood, mechanically fastened, a new .04 bronze aluminum roof edge flashing with galvanized cleat, and single EPDM roof membrane to match the existing.
