Welcome back! After getting the chance to recharge, it’s time to buckle down and prepare for finals and the last few weeks of the semester. This week brings a study break, hot cocoa, a performance from the Philharmonia Orchestra, a Harry Styles-themed show, film screenings, the Climate Justice Kickback and more.

12:30–2:30 p.m. Engineering Center Take a break from studying with peer wellness coaches from Health and Wellness Services. Self-compassion will be the theme of this talk.  Pet Supplies

2 p.m. UMC North Dining Room Warm up in between classes with a warm cup of hot cocoa. It's perfect for the holiday season. 

4–5:30 p.m.  Visual Arts Complex, Auditorium 1B20 Los Angeles-based artist Rafa Esparza is visiting CU. He currently has his work in various museums including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Dallas Museum of Art and more. 

11 a.m.–1 p.m.  ​East Campus, Aerospace Engineering Sciences Building lobby What are you thankful for? Practice gratitude with peer wellness coaches during this sidewalk talk session. 

12:30–1 p.m. Virtual Handshake and Quinncia are two of CU’s top career platforms. Handshake can help you find your next job or internship, whereas Quinncia will help you edit your resume. 7:30 p.m.  ​Imig Music, Grusin Music Hall (C112) The College of Music presents a performance from the Philharmonia Orchestra. The concert will also be available via livestream. 

9–10 a.m.  Virtual Lars Shiabukuro is a mixed and trans artist from Hawaii. Their work surrounds ideas of homelands, family and memory to include the queer landscapes that raised them. Those who attend this talk will learn more about translating identity into weaving. Registration is necessary. 

10–11 a.m.  ​CASE building, Center for Teaching and Learning, CTL E390 Take a break from the stressors of daily life with June Gruber, associate professor of psychology and neuroscience. She also teaches a course on the Science of Happiness at CU. At the event, attendees will have dialogue, brief meditation, adult coloring and more.

5:30–8 p.m.  Miramontes Baca Education, ​Idea Forge, Project Based Learning Studio At the Climate Justice Kickback, attendees will learn about all the climate justice initiatives at CU Boulder. The goal is to align climate justice efforts at the university. 

3 things to check off your to-do list

10–11 am. Virtual Employers often have to sort through an abundance of resumes and cover letters when hiring for a new position. Learn more about standing out from the crowd during this virtual presentation held by Career Services. 

12:30–2 p.m.  ATLAS Center, Brakhage Center Are you a film lover? The works this semester will focus on American filmmaker Stan Brakhage as a way to honor the anniversary of his death. 

8:30–9:30 p.m.  ​Fiske Planetarium $8–$12 Take a journey to Harry’s House at Fiske Planetarium. The 8k dome will encapsulate you with captivating visuals and full surround sound. 

7–10 p.m.  ​Rec Center, climbing gym During this climbing session, climbers will follow illuminated routes while wearing glow sticks. 

7:30 p.m.  ​Muenzinger Auditorium (E050) $7–$9 “The Way of The Dragon” is playing this week as part of the International Film Series. It is Bruce Lee’s directorial debut. In the film, he protects a family-owned restaurant in Rome. 

8 p.m.  ​CHEM 140 ‘Blue Beetle’ is playing this week. The film follows main character Jaime Reyes after he is chosen by an alien scarab to become a superhero, Blue Beetle. 

2 p.m.  ​Imig Music, Grusin Music Hall (C112) Gamelean is a type of dance that originates from the Indonesian islands of Java and Bali. This event will be livestreamed. 

4–8 p.m.  ​4 Homes in Longmont, Colorado Varies $30–$45 The Gift of Home Tour is a 57-year-long tradition. As a way to support local businesses, participants will go on a self-guided holiday home tour. Select items will be put up for sale. 

8–10 p.m.  ​UMC Glenn Miller Ballroom Come over to the Glenn Miller Ballroom for a game of Drag Bingo, brought to you by the Center for Student Involvement. Prizes will be awarded to top finishers.
